Privacy notice

Who is responsible

The Redeemed Community, a network of house churches in Mumbai, India, is responsible for the personal information held on this site. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act it is the data fiduciary.

A named contact for privacy questions is being appointed; until then, speak to your church elder or write through the contact page.

What we collect

Your name, email address, phone number, date of birth and address; your household, its address and family phone, and the people in it; a note you write when asking to join a household; which church you belong to and since when; any roles you hold; the consents you give; notes your church elders keep about you, which you can read; what you post in the community; tasks given to you; and a record of changes made to these details.

If you choose to, on your own page: a picture of yourself; your gender, place of birth, mother tongue and ethnicity; whether you are married and since when; when you were baptised; your occupation, employer and education; your hobbies, how you believe you are gifted, and what you hope for; a few words about yourself; and your answers to events (whether you are coming). Every one of these is optional and yours to change or remove. Ethnicity is sensitive information: we ask only so that your church can know you, and it is never shared beyond your church. If you switch on "share with my church", confirmed members of your own church see your name, picture, birthday and anniversary (day and month only), occupation and giftings; nobody else does, and you can switch it off at any time.

Why

To run the life of your church: to know who belongs, to contact you, to organise events and tasks, and to let you take part in prayer and discussion. Your church membership is religious information, which the law treats with extra care; it is used for nothing else.

Who can see it

You. The elders of your own church. The body of elders that governs all the churches. Nobody at another church. The full list of what is held and who sees it is published in the project's data inventory.

Where it is kept and who else touches it

In a database in Mumbai run by Supabase. The website is served by Cloudflare. Emails from the site are sent by an email service. No other company receives your information.

How long, and erasure

For as long as you have an account. You can ask for your information to be erased from the Privacy page of your account. Your account stops at once, and within 90 days your details and your login are removed. Prayer requests and comments you wrote stay, shown as a former member's, and a single line records that the erasure happened. If you change your mind within those 90 days, contact us and the request is cancelled.

Children

A child's details are added only by a parent or guardian in their household, who gives consent at that moment, or by a church elder recording the parent's or guardian's consent given in person. Who gave the consent, and when, is kept with the child's record. A parent or guardian asking for their own erasure chooses whether the children they added are erased with them. Children's information is never used to profile or track them.

Enquiries

When you write to us through the contact form, we keep what you typed: your name, your email or phone, how you heard of us and who referred you, your religion or faith if you chose to say, the church you attend, your PIN code and your message. The elders of the church you chose, or the body of elders, read it in order to reply. A short scrambled trace of your connection is kept for a while to stop spam; your address itself is not.
